SCEA/OCMJEA Part II assignment and Part III experience.

Prepartion for this exam started with different reason. I was mainly looking for refreshing my basics skills and learning few new techonologies so that I can cope up with the changing software market. Last year I wored Ayyapa mala (you need to workship Lord Ayyapa for 41 days with sanctity) and while following the rules and customs during the tenure, like wake up early in the morning and offer prayers before the sunrise. As my day starts early and I use to have plenty of time then I thought of making use of it and planned to appear for SCEA Part 1 which I was planning from many years but didn't get any time towards it. Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect beta exam experience.

Beta exam was of 90 questions in 150 mins. Initially I felt, time will not be sufficient for this exam as it will be based on lengthy and tricky questions which may be time consuming but it was well sufficient and last 8 mins were used for reviewing few questions. Buying voucher for beta exam as to be done online in Pearsonvue's site itself and it can't be bought in any testing center and appear then and there. Buy it online and then book a slot to appear for the exam in advance rather than extending it to the last day and getting into trouble of not attending the exam itself. Exam was like testing everything, technologies related to old still valid as well as new. Few questions of this exam which are available in Mock exams or the Real exam of Java EE 5 Part 1 will occur. They were good number of questions on patterns covering from "Real World Java EE patterns, Rethinking Best practices" by Adam Bien and few on Core JEE patterns, design patterns and anti patterns...

AWS Solution Architect Associate SAA-C02 exam experience

It all started with the interest to gain in-depth knowledge on AWS Services. It was followed by lab sessions and Q&A on basic AWS services. It was all going according to the plan until there was an announcement that SAA-C01 will be replaced by SAA-C02. Unlike previous exam, SAA-C02 is more focused on scenarios and use-case based questions. I restarted the preparation following the SAA-C02 exam guide and decided to cover most of the topics from AWS whitepapers and study guide. In our day to day job we are only exposed to commonly used services like EC2, ELB, CloudFormation, CloudWatch etc. However, having in-depth knowledge of different AWS services related to Storage, Compute, Networking and Security allows us to build an effective, efficient and scalable systems. Proper designing of an enterprise application happens when most of the services are explored.
